Saying latest single You Should Be More Sorry (I Should Be More Angry) is for ‘anyone who’s ever been on the receiving end of a stupid non-apology’ one-woman riot grrrl band Nell Davies is continuing a run of brilliant bubblegum punk releases and giving yet another reason (as if one is needed) to get on her debut EP The End Of The World Or Whatever.
‘You’re a road to hell / paved with good intentions’
Following on from previous singles Never Ever Ever and Out Of This World, You Should Be More Sorry (I Should Be More Angry) carries resentment, exhaustion, and frustration in ever choppy and fuzzed up note. For a solo work there’s a really rich sound built up with 60s girl group harmonies and grungy guitars, shout-along interludes, hand-clap backed rhythm and loud-quiet structures.
We’ve said it before and we’re going to keep saying it: for modern riot grrrl and creative DIY feminist punk-pop Nell Davies is an artist you want to get your ears on.
You Should Be More Sorry (I Should Be More Angry) by Nell Davies is out digitally now. EP The End Of The World Or Whatever is also out digitally now. Read our review of previous singles Never Ever Ever and Out Of This World.
