Releasing her first single since signing to INH Records Gabi Garbutt has shared Radical Love, featuring Jemma Freeman (of The Cosmic Something) and it’s a beautifully wistful synth pop track full of quiet steadfast hope.
Sharing on social media Garbutt said the song is, “about the transformative power of love in all its manifestations” and has previously described her current sound as being full of “sapphic chaos, of intense vulnerability and cosmic vitality.”
‘A love that beats the mottled drum skin of the moon / Rings out in dive bars and in doctor’s waiting rooms’
This is a track which, without pomp or drama, goes straight to your heart. The beautifully layered harmonies underpin the solidarity, and the reassurance we are all but ‘unlikely creatures’. Radical Love is a wonderfully warm and steady ode to unity, that without taking a shot at that and those which seek to divide us reminds us love is the greater force, is our nature and our purpose.
With clear tones, warm guitars, and synths to the front Radical Love is a wonderful statement to open this chapter for Gabi Garbutt, and having shared she was recording an album toward the tail end of last year we’re really looking forward to hearing more and hoping it comes soon.
Radical Love by Gabi Garbutt featuring Jemma Freeman is out digitally now.
