Known for their wistful dreampop with a cinematic sense of space and emotion Transatlantic duo The Blue Herons head toward new album Demon Slayer with sparkling single Willow. If you like The Sundays, this one is definitely for you.
A shimmering soundscape with just enough bite the single feels like an enticing, and exciting, introduction to the album to come. Written and recorded across continents with songwriters Andy Jossi in Switzerland and Gretchen DeVault in the US, the sense of a conversation, steadily becoming laden with trust and the energy of collaborative creativity.
They say, “The song blurs the boundaries between dream and waking state, capturing a sense of magnetic connection where meaning is felt more than explained.”
And Willow certainly has that deep emotional resonance, DeVault’s vocals sitting clearly in the mix while the melody grows toward what is quite the cinematic climax. Beautiful, comforting, and definitely dreamy – this is the jangling romanticism of classic indie pop and we’re looking forward to an album of more.
Willow by The Blue Herons is out now digitally. Album Demon Slayer is due on 3 April 2026 on Shelflife Records (America), Too Good To Be True (France) and Fastcut (Japan).
