Lots of great album releases in June 2026 – Gabi Garbutt, Fashion Tips, Sans Froid, Tiger Island and Yuki Nakagawa. We’re still catching up after taking a bit of a break these were so good we had to rewind a little and post about them after the fact.

Gabi Garbutt – Radical Love (INH Records)
There’s barely been a day in the last couple of weeks of really getting to know this album – the third long player from Gabi Garbutt – where I haven’t woken with lead track (and closing coda) Radical Love drifting beautifully through my mind.
When we covered the single earlier in the year we said it was a track that, “without pomp or drama, goes straight to your heart. The beautifully layered harmonies underpin the solidarity, and the reassurance we are all but ‘unlikely creatures’. Radical Love is a wonderfully warm and steady ode to unity, that without taking a shot at that and those which seek to divide us reminds us love is the greater force, is our nature and our purpose.”
This is a sentiment that carries through the rest of the album where there is synth-pop and surreal imagery, urgent post-punk passages, and where new wave meets symbolism from nature. You’ll hear the echoes of Blondie, Patti Smith, Donna Summer and Santigold on an album the artist teased would be ‘sapphic chaos’. And that is certainly there, but so is calm assurance which comes with knowing who you are and the way that self fits in the world around you.

Fashion Tips – Do You Even Like Music? (self-released)
Landing 2 years after their debut (2024’s I Wish You Every Success) Fashion Tips ‘difficult second album’ Do You Even Like Music? is an incredible blend of ‘no wave dance punk riot grrrl electroclash noise rock sass’. With all the whirligig energy of being buffeted through a night out, at least one drink beyond your limit, this album is brash, beautiful, brutal, and all the more profound for it.
Across the album you’ll get the Riot Grrrl of Bikini Kill, the bratty pop punk of Shampoo, the electroclash of Tokky Horror. There’s samples included from interviews with Courtney Love and Marie Du Santiago of Kenickie as well as having a quote from the ‘world’s worst opera singer’ Lady Florence Foster Jenkins, “People may say I can’t sing, but no one can ever say I didn’t sing”.
The whole thing is fast paced and abrasive, this should find itself in your ears and in every best of list for 2026.

Sans Froid – Back Into The Womb (self released)
Experimental, emotional, expressive and accessible the second album from Bristol’s art-rockers Sans Froid, Back To The Womb, is a wonder waiting for you to discover. Leaning further into the inspiration they take from The Mars Volta the band blend everything from agitated punk, to paranoid dance grooves, through bold rock riffs and hypnotic Prog stylings.
A chaotic and confident fever dream of an album for a band deepening their bond as they explore ever-further around their sound, but who are producing some weird but absolutely wonderful tracks for you to get obsessed with.

Tiger Island – Let’s Go Out (Reckless Yes)
Garage rock with a pop-punk heart? More than satisfactorily delivered on this debut from West Yorkshire’s Tiger Island. Let’s Go Out celebrates human connection through a fast-paced joyous record with hints of Hot Snakes and The B-52s surfacing through the sound.
Vibrant and tangibly fun, this is an album with the energy of youth and the wisdom that comes from having some miles on the clock. With artwork harking back to Point Horror and Fat Willy’s Surf Shack there’s a little bit of knowing nostalgia for the analogue world wrapped up in gritty and glorious rock stylings that can only be described as Massive Tunes.
Coming in at around 30 mins there’s no excess on this full-bodied and bloody brilliant debut.

Yuki Nakagawa – Stills and Remains (Unheard of Hope)
Stills and Remains, the debut album from Japanese cellist Yuki Nakagawa is fascinatingly experimental as, “All sounds are generated from a single cello, expanded through effects and extended techniques, traversing drones, noise, and percussive textures. An experimental work that approaches the cello as a ‘voice-producing device.’”
By turns unsettling, anticipatory, and intimate there are plenty of moments of disjointed and seemingly unconnected noises in each track, and yet this is a deeply cohesive collection and one which pushes beyond the expected boundaries of this single instrument. The emerging sense is one of player and played becoming one, the sound like wind through brutalist architecture as creature-like notes scurry at the edges of your perception, the possibilities now proven to be endless.
