Of all the albums I’ve had the chance to listen to so far in 2026 Radical Love by Gabi Garbutt is among my very favourite. Synth-pop stylings with understated by powerful affirmations of love, and with the release of latest single Snaggletooth we get a folk tilt on another aspect of the theme.
For like other tracks on the album, Snaggletooth presents both the concept and emotion of radical love. Here is it love and acceptance, even if understanding is not yet fully gained, of the self. It is the holding of multiple versions of ourselves all at once. If the title track of the album was steadfast hope, this is unwavering kindness.
And it is presented in a gently-lilting simple and stripped back folk style. It’s a change of pace from the synths we hear on LP-mates, while keeping the insightful and moving songwriting at the core.
‘I joined the ranks of the old punks / To be thrown around in the mosh pit / I rose up from the fires of rock and roll each night / My fragile body bruised and blazing with light’
Of the track Gabi said, “This song is about being a weirdo kid. It’s about not fitting in and instead getting lost in nature and the untamed energy of rock & roll. It’s about how that little troubled kid with a snaggletooth, obsessed with music, animals and birds, is still very much a part of me.”
The stop-motion video (made by Gabi and Jemma Freeman) features Gabi’s childhood toys, and perfectly reflects the innocence and nostalgia at the heart of the track, as the illusion of movement mimics the flickering reality of memories.
So go watch the video, hold your inner child a little tighter, and if you haven’t dug in yet do get the album on your to be listened to list.
