They say The Spirit, The Law from Edinburgh electroqueers Thundermoon is ‘a glowing mix of driving, ethereal synths, banging bass-lines, and old-school video game textures’ and that it ‘channels the euphoric energy of dance floors and dreamscapes’.
We say: it’s 3am and you’re edging away from a writhing dancefloor not wanting to single yourself out from the mass. Exhausted and wired you pulse with the music and the beats of the people around you. It’s here you almost find yourself, the ephemeral moment of all-knowing-know-nothingness about yourself, about the universe, about the music around you and in you.
‘The spirit / The law / The sky / The body’
It is an invocation to claim identity, and relinquish ego in the same breath. It’s the only soundtrack you need for your dance floor epiphany The beat pounds on, old skool textures give you the aural tickle, while that smooth vocal glides across the top of the synthesised terrain. You’re flying, you’re floating, you’re consumed by electro-bliss.
Having supported Faithless at Floor’s Castle in August 2025 it’s said the band is poised to ‘break out of the underground and into the wider electronic consciousness’ and The Spirit, The Law only evidences that further. A heady mix of comforting introspection and joyful shared experience wrapped in shimmering synths and hypnotic vocals makes this pretty sublime electropop.
The Spirit, The Law by Thundermoon is out now digitally. A debut album is set to follow.
