While the climate crisis has the temperature terrifyingly turned up it hasn’t burnt away the body shaming just yet and with TV BIKINY art-punks TWAT Union are here to remind us that a body with a bikini is a bikini body.
With a riot grrrl rush TV BIKINY pulls us in – a bouncing bass line, relentless waves of guitar, and kiss with a fist lyrics all sweetness in the catchiness of the chorus and tickling your brain in just the right way with the sass. It takes the freedom of being the observer, the liberation of an itsy-bitsy-clad binge watch at home, and encourages carrying that out into the world where judgement of your sartorial choice makes you the observed.

About the track vocalist Kate Mac said, “TV BIKINY is about body standards, and the absolute joy of sprawling on the sofa watching gloriously trashy TV. It’s our version of a summer banger, and it’s about doing absolutely nothing.
“It’s also poking at that weird gap between how comfy we feel in our bodies when we’re lounging around at home versus when we have to take those same bodies out into the world. We want everyone to smuggle a bit of that sofa confidence into real life.”
TWAT Union are known for their live performances – part gig, part feminist theatre performance where you are as likely to see line dancing as you are experience the feral release of rage, and joy as an act of resistance. With a co-headliner with Alcopop! labelmates Problem Patterns announced for October get to the show if you can and in the meantime throw on your bikini and play this one loud.
