YAKKIE

Since they appeared on the scene last year we’ve been in awe of the philosophy and sound of heavy punk supergroup YAKKIE. With their debut Kill The Cop Inside Your Head landing in February 2026 we’re thrilled Under The Pavement Is The Beach has been lifted from it as a radio edit single.

Inspired by the French political slogan borne from the Paris ‘68 riots, ‘Sous les pavés, la plage’ the track reminds us that ‘underneath this grubby capitalist system, there is a beautiful paradise, we just have to tear it up first so we can build something new.’
The band said of the track, “When the world is burning, both metaphorically and literally, we need to hold on to our sense of hope. Under The Pavement Is The Beach aims to serve as a reminder that your hope is a muscle that we train together, and that in times of despair we can’t give up – that’s exactly what the fascists want.”

‘AND I SEE WHAT YOU SEE / AND WE’RE NOT CRAZY / SO LET’S MEET IN THE FIELD / AND WE’LL PLANT SOME SEEDS’

Between them members of YAKKIE have been in bands including Petrol Girls, Dream Nails, Colour Me Wednesday, itoldyouiwouldeatyou and Personal Best. With an impressive heritage the catalogue of issue-led punk they’ve already built is perhaps not surprising but pleasing nonetheless.

Under The Pavement Is The Beach is full of joyful melody, solar plexus punching riffs, and most importantly hope and solidarity. Music as expression, yes, but also music as a rallying call, a reassurance, and resistance. YAKKIE bring it all and then some.

Under The Pavement Is The Beach by YAKKIE is out digitally now. The single also features on debut album Kill The Cop Inside Your Head, self-released on vinyl, CD and digital formats in February 2026.
