Not all opening statements have to be loud, not everything must be a rallying cry. The quiet, the soft, the beautiful can be just as attention grabbing and powerful. With first single The Rain Felt Kind Foglights has more than proven this.
A collaboration between Eva Cord (The Cords) and Archie Ingram (Stone Anthem) Foglights brings the indiepop and psychedelia you might expect from those projects while also feeling like a space in which both artists explore how those sounds can work wonderfully together.
With soft duet vocals woven through tremolo guitar The Rain Felt Kind is personal, emotional, and comforting. Dropping us in as if this track has been playing for some time it’s got a leisurely pace and those vocals close and centred in the mix.
Both artists come to this collaboration off the back of debut albums (The Cords‘ 2025 self-titled and Stone Anthem‘s 2026 Solux Rex) and it feels like Foglights isn’t an escape, but a breathing space as they work on follow-ups.
Mostly it is beautiful. Evoking the relief, cosiness and solace of rain, you can almost smell the petrichor as the vocals shine, the melody shimmers. It really is quite a lovely thing and fills us with anticipation for the EP next month.
The Rain Felt Kind by Foglights is out digitally now. EP Nous Deux will be released on cassette and digital on 21 August 2026 via Skep Wax and Slumberland Records.
